Chester Lawrence Jensen, 86, of Pleasant Grove passed away Monday, September 10, 2001 at American Fork Hospital.

He was born Feb. 11, 1915 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada to Lehi and Christiane Andersen Jensen. He married Amy Lee Phillips on September 26, 1938 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away in 1995.

He grew up in Magrath and Lethbridge where he attended school. Chester worked on the family ranch and left to serve an LDS Mission in 1935 to the Northwestern States. He met his wife, sister Amy Lee Phillips while serving his mission. After their marriage, they moved to Los Angeles where he was employed at Pacific States Telephone and Telegraph during World War II. Chester was a specialist in telegraphy and ship-to-shore communications. He was restricted from joining the armed forces during the war to due his expertise in communications. He and Amy Lee moved to Salt Lake in 1950 to work for AT&T and later to Pleasant Grove where he retired.

He was an active member of the LDS Church on served in many capacities including Branch President, Ward Clerk, and President of the Seventies Quorum.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter: John-Lehi (Lila), Pleasant Grove; Chester Lawrence, Jr. (Ellen), Washington, UT; Amy Lee III (George) Jackson, West Jordan; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his brother Howard L. (Elaine), Provo; and sister, Roxy Crosley, So. California. He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Phillips Riley and his granddaughter, K. C Jackson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove East Stake Center, 825 South Loader Drive. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 So. 300 E., Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
