Dorothy Gammell Allan returned to her heavenly father, peacefully, on the evening of September 12, 2001. She was home and sur-rounded by loved ones.
Dorothy was born January 23, 1919 in Spring Canyon, Utah. Daughter of Ernest and Madge Carter Gammell. Graduate of Springville High School and later Weber Memorial School of Nursing. Married Samuel Loraine Allan January 7, 1939 in Springville. Solemnized in the Manti Temple.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel; her five daughters, Dorothy Ann (Lynn) Jenkins, WA.; Judy Elaine (Steve) Kenyon, Sandy; Loueda Marie (D.J.) Jensen, Fountain Green; Birdie Marian (Hank) Miller, SLC; Evelyn Kay (Mike) Taylor, Sandy; foster daughter, Priscilla (Ralph) Begay, of the Navajo Nation; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sons Robert "Bobby" Brooks, Terrence Fred, and siblings, Tess Bowen, Marjorie Olsen, Maxine Seamons, Cloramon Gammell and Gary Groesbeck.
Dorothy, alongside her husband, served an LDS mission to England, serving in the Hereford Branch. Dorothy dedicated her life to her family. We are thankful that after the years of service she provided to us, we were able to serve her for the last couple of years. She will be greatly missed by all she touched. Her family would like to thank Pine Ridge Care Center employees who kindly watched over her.
Services will be held Monday, September 17, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Union 6th Ward, 1433 E. Old Mission Road, Sandy (8000S 1300 E). A viewing will be held Sunday, September 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Dr., and Monday September 17 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at 1433 E. Old Mission Road, Sandy. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
