Thanks for the generosity

SHARE Thanks for the generosity

How can we ever adequately thank the wonderful people of Salt Lake City and neighboring towns? The $594,509 pledges and donations made by the residents of Utah to the 2001 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon will make a big difference in the Muscular Dystrophy Association's search for treatments and cures for neuromuscular diseases.

We know how important this research is because our son, Brandon, is affected by Duchenne, which is one of the disorders MDA is fighting. Utah's generosity also helps MDA continue its marvelous program of medical and community services to families like ours.

We are so proud of our fellow Utahns, whose telethon contributions were part of the record national telethon total of $56,780,603. With those funds, MDA maintains a network of some 230 clinics, including the Neuromuscular Clinic at the University of Utah Medical Center, one of 25 National Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (A.L.S., also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) Care Centers, and a biannual Neuromuscular Outreach Clinic in southern Utah. With MDA summer camps, support groups, assistance with the purchase and repair of orthopedic equipment, and vital research and information, MDA makes a huge difference to families like ours, and each person who backed the Telethon has made a difference, too.

To each of you, thanks for supporting the MDA Labor Day Telethon. Your support means the world to families here in Utah, just like ours, which count on MDA.
