WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: No. 14 BYU hosts No. 21 Utah Thursday at the Smith Fieldhouse, with the 7 p.m. match broadcast live on KBYU, Ch. 11, and on BYU-TV, available on various satellite and cable systems.
BYU has compiled a 5-1 record, with its sole loss to No. 25 Texas. Utah is 4-2, having lost to No. 3 Arizona and Louisville. Both teams have defeated No. 23 Colorado and Rhode Island in matches earlier this season.
BYU enters the match with a 14-match home win streak and has defeated Utah 19 straight times at Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars are 29-1 at home against the Utes.
MEN'S GOLF: Utah travels to Albuquerque to participate in this weekend's William H. Tucker Invitational, hosted by New Mexico. The 21-team field will play 36 holes Friday and 18 Saturday.
CROSS COUNTRY: Utah will travel Saturday to Bozeman, Mont., to participate in the Montana State Invitational, which was postponed last weekend.
WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Utes travel to face No. 15 Kentucky (5-0) Friday and Miami of Ohio (2-3) Sunday.
CROSS COUNTRY: The Cougar women will compete in Friday's Great American Festival in Charlotte, N.C., with No. 4 BYU matching up against the likes of No. 9 North Carolina State and No. 25 Duke.
WOMEN'S SOCCER: BYU is hosting the second annual 3 On 3 Soccer Shootout Sept. 28-29 on the campus' Deseret Towers Field.
Teams consist of five players, boys and girls from age 6 to adults. Registration is $100 per team, and all participants will play a minimum of three games over the two-day event. Winners go on to regional competition next spring.

WOMEN'S GOLF: Carrie Summerhays and Lisa Dernick led BYU to a fifth-place finish last weekend at the New Mexico-hosted Comcast/Dick McGuire Invitational.
BYU shot its lowest 54-hole total — 896 — in the 23-year history of the tournament.
Summerhays and Dernick tied for 16th individually with 224, with BYU teammate Natalie Newren two shots back in 19th place in her first collegiate tournament.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Wildcats (3-5) open Big Sky Conference action this weekend by hosting Northern Arizona Friday and Sacramento State Saturday. Both games start at 7 p.m. in the Dee Events Center.
WOMEN'S SOCCER: SUU managed only seven shots on goal in Monday's 3-0 loss to UNLV in Cedar City. It marked the third time the T-Birds (0-5) have been blanked in five games this season.
SUU opens a three-game trip playing Sunday at Cal State Fullerton.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: With their 20-2 record icluding seven wins against top-15 teams, UVSC is ranked No. 4 in the first NJCAA women's volleyball poll.
UVSC's two losses came at top-ranked Southern Idaho; the Wolverines beat the No. 1 Golden Eagles in Orem this year.
UVSC will compete in the weekend's Valley of the Sun Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz., with the 26-team field including nine top-25 teams.
