To support its plans to build a $69 million aquarium in Salt Lake City, the Living Planet Aquarium Foundation will hold its annual "Scales and Tails" fund-raising dinner Saturday night.
The theme is "life on the islands," so the grand ballroom of Salt Lake Hilton, 150 W. 500 South, will be transformed into a Polynesian scene. Guests are invited to dress in "elegant island attire."
Tickets are $100 and include a four-course gourmet dinner and admission to the evening's auction of trips, fine art and other gifts.
Construction of the Living Planet Aquarium is expected to start in 2003. The public aquarium will feature 90,000 square feet of exhibits and 8,000 aquatic specimens and other animals.
