SPRINGVILLE — Flying J officials say they will put $15,000 in a trust fund for an employee whose family members are reportedly missing in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York.

The employee, Steve Mendenhall, has declined to talk to the press, but his co-workers at the Springville store say his two stepsons, their wives, six of their children and two nephews are missing. They had been on vacation in New York.

Flying J officials said Mendenhall has posted information about his family on the World Trade Center missing persons list, but he has not heard from them.

"I really was at a loss for words when I talked to him —there are no words in something this horrible," said Ron Dejuncker, Flying J vice president of food services.

Flying J has also announced it will donate $150,000 of fuel in support of the American Red Cross for relief vehicles traveling across the country.
