Evelyn LaVella Parke Pettit, 88 passed away Sept. 18, 2001 at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Born Dec. 8, 1912 in Salt Lake City to Charles and Evelyn Parke. She married Marion Lester Pettit June 30, 1932. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 60 years before death claimed her husband.

LaVella graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah. She interrupted her Education when she married to become a wife and mother. After the death of their beloved daughter Betty Luana, she went back to the University and received her degree in Social Work. LaVella taught school five years before deciding to assist her son in the development of his Architectural Design Business. She worked until her poor health made it impossible to continue.

LaVella was an accomplished organist and she had a beautiful voice. Her joys were sewing, gardening, and hobbies like making doll houses and their furniture just one of the many hobbies she shared with her husband and son.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, parents, sister (Floris Lemmon), brother (Elbert Ernell Parke), nieces and nephew. She is survived by her son Marion Lester Pettit Jr., sister LaVerna Green (Franklin D.), sister-in-law Aline Park, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at the Valley View Stake Center, 2245 East 3900 South. Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S Highland Dr. on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the Valley View Stake Center one hour prior to services. Burial at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
