Waynard G. Morton, age 71, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001 at his home of cancer.

He was born Nov. 3, 1929 in Kaysville the son of Sterling and Ivy Isabella Smith Morton. Waynard married Bonnie McCullough on June 30, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a life long resident of Kaysville. He graduated from Davis High School in 1948.

Waynard retired after 37 years with the government at the Army Railroad shop at Hill Air Force Base. He worked all aspects of locomotives and generators. At the time of his retirement he was supervisor of the electrical shop. Waynard was an active LDS church member for his entire life.

He was ordained a High Priest, served as Elders Quorum Secretary, assistant Ward Clerk, and Home Teacher. He was Assistant Fire Chief and a member of the Kaysville Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years.

Waynard was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to go camping with his family. As a young man he played the trumpet in dance bands and in high school was first chair in the All State Band and Orchestra.

Surviving are his loving

wife of 51 years, four sons, Jerald W. (Kristie), Kaysville; Brian D. (Beverly), Harrisville; Steven J. (Marcia), Layton; Gregory A. (April),

Roy; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Isabella Patterson, two sisters-in-law, Francis Morton, and Katie Morton.

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Orval "Bus" and John, and one sister, Maggie.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville East LDS Stake Center, 201 So. 600 E. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:30- 10:45 at the stake center. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
