New details about a weekend killing and suicide in Sandy were released in documents filed in 3rd District Court on Monday.
The body of Stacy Lemon, 25, was found inside the apartment of her ex-husband, Brandon Lemon, 26, Saturday morning near 9400 South and 800 West. Brandon Lemon's body was found inside Stacey's burned up Ford Mustang near Thistle, Utah County. His body was burned beyond recognition and had to be identified by the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office.
Outside the car, investigators found a wallet with some of Brandon Lemon's identification cards inside, according to court documents.
Stacey Lemon was found with a belt around her neck that was also attached to a doorknob, according to court documents. She suffered trauma to the head, and a hammer and a steak knife were found next to her, court documents stated.
Detectives say they believe Brandon Lemon picked up Stacey Lemon at work and later killed her at his apartment before taking her car and committing suicide, Sandy Police Lt. Kevin Thacker said.
The couple had been divorced a month and had two children.
