Bonnie M. Bobet died September 21, 2001 in Berkeley after fierce combat with acute Mylogenous Luekemia.
Born in New Orleans, she and per harents, Niona and Bertram Bobet, moved to Oakland, where Bonnie graduated from Skyline High School. she earned a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University, an M.A., also in English, from the University of Utah, and after some years of studies and public relations work for Bay Area and Utah corporations and individuals, she earned a Ph.D in American Literature from UC Berkeley.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities, including as president of the women's organization of the University Ward in Berekley.
She was a voracious reader, a gifted writer, and a devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants. She kept in touch with loved ones all over the continent. Her gift to the world was her daughter Jane, born August 15, 1988.
Mourning her death but celebrating her life are Jane, her sister-cousin Connie Silva of San Leandro, her Canadian family, many cousins, and innumerable close friends.
Memorial services, 12 noon, Wednesday, September 26 at the Berkeley LDS Ward Chapel, 1501 Walnut, at Walnut and Vine St., Berkeley, CA.
