Bernice Dastrup Shea, beloved wife of William E. Shea and mother of two sons, W. Michael and David L. Shea passed away peacefully at home of cancer on Sept. 20, 2001.
Bernice was born of goodly parents Leland L and Lula A. Broadbent Dastrup in Sigurd, Utah on October 19, 1914. She married William E. Shea in the Manti Temple on August 8, 1940.
Bernice attended U.S.A.C. at Logan, Utah after graduating from Richfield High School. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous organizations. She fulfilled two missions, and served as an ordinance worker in three temples: Salt Lake City, Manila, Philippines, and Tokyo, Japan. She served her community and schools in many capacities as well.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister (Marjorie D. Simonsen). She is survived by two sons and their families, Dr. W. Michael and Janice Shea (Coto de Caza, CA), David Lee and Sharon Shea (Albuquerque, NM), and four grandchildren: Michael Christopher, Jennifer Lynn, Leslie Anne, and Elizabeth Irene. Surviving brothers and sisters include Karolyn Stewart (Salt Lake City), Morris Dastrup (Chula Vista, CA), Harold and Garn Dastrup (Corona, CA), and Myrle Goodman (Bellingham, WA).
A viewing will be hosted by the family at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, on Monday, Sept. 24, from 6- 8 p.m and prior to the funeral from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the Monument Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 2215 East Roosevelt Ave., Salt Lake City, UT on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at noon.
