The Gathering: 2001 Scale Model Summit will be Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29, at Union Station, 25th and Wall, in Ogden.

This annual event represents the pinnacle of scale model building, says Richard C. Engar, show chairman. "There will be something there for everyone to enjoy, whether it is a World War II veteran looking for a model of his favorite airplane or a movie buff enjoying a colorful replica of his or her favorite character from a science fiction movie."

The F-117A Stealth Fighter is often in the news, and replicas of this aircraft as well as many other popular military and civil aircraft will be available for the public to view up close.

The Gathering is sponsored by three major modeling groups: IPMS/Salt Lake City, Utah Scale Modelers Association based in Ogden and Utah Miniature Automotive Guild based in Salt Lake CIty. Membership of these clubs consists of a diverse group including dentists, business executives, physicians, lawyers, professional scouters, servicemen and more.

Exhibit hours are noon to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The hall will be closed for judging between 2-5 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for children.
