Burton B. Nielsen, age 86, of Spring City, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001.

He was born April 30, 1915 to James R. and Emma Bunnell Nielsen in Spring City. Burton married LaPrele Morley on Jan. 20, 1939 in Salt Lake City, their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on Jan. 20, 1955.

Burton was an High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many capacities. Burton loved his family, farming and his church. He served as the president of the Spring City Lions Club, and president of the Cedar Creek Irrigation Co. He was the

operator of the Moroni Meat Locker for several years, and worked at the Feed Mill for Moroni Feed Co. Burton also helped build the tunnel east of Spring City with the CCC Camp. He was a very loving and compassionate individual who truly cared for others.

Burton is survived by his children,

Marjorie Harward (Gary) of Provo; Denise Fonger (Bob) of Murray; Bryce Nielsen of Spring City; and Larry Nielsen of Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Holt of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, Vernon and Lewis Nielsen.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 at the Spring City LDS Chapel (164 South Main) at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the church and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 prior to the services at the Church. Interment will be in the Spring City Cemetery, under the direction of Ursenbach Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
