Viliami Lausii Tausinga, 87, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 1, 2001 at his home in Provo. He was born Jan. 14, 1915 in Otea, Vava'u, Tonga to Tevita and Sisilia SitoafaTausinga.
He married Makeleta Popula Fifita in 1932 in Otea, Vava'u Tonga. They were sealed in the Auckland, New Zealand Temple in 1969.
Viliami graduated from Makeke High School in Tonga. He was a life long farmer of produce. He was employed by Liahona High school and was Assistant to the Officer of the Village of Matangake. He loved fishing and visiting with friends and family. He loved to dance the Tongan Lakalaka.
Viliami was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings, including Branch President, Sunday school teacher, ward clerk, and High Priest group leader. He and his wife served a full-time mission in Tonga.
He is survived by his wife, Makeleta Popula Fifita; four sons: Sitiveni Alama (Siale) Tausinga, Salt Lake City; Sione Matealona (Temalisi), New Zealand; Pakimotalaha (Elina), Salt Lake City; Vikita Uiniseni (Mele) Tausinga, Salt Lake City; and four daughters: Teuila (Samisi) Mafi, Tonga; Lesila (Afele) Tongia, Tonga; Pua (Alai) Matu'apuaka, New Zealand; Telesia Laukau (Jackson) Unga, Provo; 61 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; niece, Aloi
Pauli; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tuione; one daughter, Sisilia Sitoafa; two brothers, Oto and Sione Matealona; and two sisters, Tupou Moeofo and Teuila.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2001 at 10 a.m. in the Tongan 2nd Ward, 1090 West 1020 South, Provo. Friends may call at the Church
on Thursday, September 6, 2001 from 7-10 p.m. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Walker Family Mortuary of Provo.
