Carrie Ellen Holt passed away Monday Sept. 3, 2001 in Midvale, Utah.

Carrie was born Sept. 8, 1958 in Murray, Utah to Roger William Smith and Jackie Lynn Barrett.

She graduated with a 4.0 average from Granite High School and joined the Air National Guard. Carrie married Jay Brent Holt on June 3, 1990 while on the annual Wendover

motorcycle ride. She and Brent enjoyed working in their yard, weekend getaways, sightseeing and vacationing together.

Carrie cherished her husband, her parents and her family. She loved her birds and her plants. She took joy in giving of herself in service to others. She nurtured and cared for anyone in need and often crocheted gifts for family and friends.

Carrie made people feel good about themselves. Carrie will be remembered for her genuine kindness, her big heart and her loving nature.

Carrie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack Holden and Helen Raed Barrett and William Henry and Ellen Chapman Smith, and by her brother Jacob Aaron Merritt.

She is survived by her husband Jay Brent Holt; her parents Roger (Susan) Smith and Jackie (Cliff) Martin; her three sisters Kristen Smith, Tiffany (Nate) Bentz, and Lynsey (Jeremy) Fullam; three brothers Rodger Smith and his children, Brett and Jared Merritt; aunt and friend Cindia VanGerven and Brent's children and their families.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday Sept. 8, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Pepperwood LDS Chapel 2195 E. Pepperwood Drive (10900 S.) where friends may call Saturday 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery/Mortuary.
