Gordon Warren Walton was born April 1, 1933 to Sarah and Frank Walton. He left this world on Sept. 4, 2001 to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gordon worked as a bus driver for the Salt Lake City Lines, UTA, Lake Shore Lines for 30 years. He also worked at Salt Lake City Cemetery, Kresses, Salt Lake County Aging Service, Winchells Donuts, as a cab driver, and in the pool and spa industry. He always had a smile and a joke for everyone he met.

He married Virginia Gregersen May 29, 1952. They were later divorced but remained close friends and continued to enjoy their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as a family.

He is survived by daughter Shauna (Lyle) Zwahlen, Julie (John) Hungrige, son, Brian, and his partner (Weston McNeill), Vyrna (wife of the late Richard) and his much loved stepdaughters, Tina, Tammy, Rhonda, Lisa, and their spouses and their 11 children and their mother, Darlene. Grandchildren, Sabrina (Chet), Brenna (Jason), Carma (Preston), Cara (Jerry), Jennifer (Richard), Gretchen (Randy), Eric, Amanda (Mike), Great grandchildren, Earl, Angeline, Cody, Taylor, Cameron, Kiyan, Amanda, Zakary, and one on the way. Brother, Ben Walton, Sisters, Shirley (Rex) Worthen, Beverly (Red) McDonald, Virginia (Lavere) Keller, Brother-in-law, Leon Elmer and many loved nieces and nephews. Also, "adopted" daughter Serena Sweat, and "adopted" granddaughter Babs.

Preceded in death by his son Richard, granddaughter, Amy, sister, Lenore, brother, Neil.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors at IHC, IHC Hospice, St. Mark's Hospital and L.D.S. Hospital. A special thanks to all of his friends at Phillip's Plaza. He loved living there and getting to know you all. To all of his other friends, thanks for the phone calls, the visits, and all of the prayers. If Gordy called you friend, you were a friend for life. If you were ever part of the family, you were family for life.

Dad, you were so loved and will be missed but we are glad you are not in pain anymore. You fought a hard fight and will be remembered forever. We love you.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 South 200 East. Friends may call from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery, 4500 South Redwood Road.
