Many agents, tour companies, hotels and cruise lines are offering unusually good deals for travel through Christmas. Restrictions apply; Some must be purchased by Thursday. To get the best deals, be flexible about travel dates.

Some examples:

A one-week stay at an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic, including all meals and beverages and airfare from Miami, is going for $500 per person from the Miami agency Mena Travel (1-305-642-6362.) Mena is also promoting a one-week Mediterranean cruise for $480 per person plus airfare. All prices are based on double occupancy.

Cunard Line (1-800-728-6273; www.cunard.com. has a few two-for-one spots left on some fall crossings on the QE2 between New York and England, with prices from $1,480. Windjammer (1-800-327-2601; www.windjammer.com is also offering two-for-one six day cruises in the Caribbean on select fall sailings; prices start at $700 per couple. Celebrity Cruises' (1-800-437-3111; www.celebritycruises.com first Miami-based ship, Horizon, will offer seven-night Caribbean cruises from $549 per person, with departure late Friday nights to allow for a full work week.

Fares of $398 roundtrip are offered to many major European cities until Christmas from New York, Atlanta and Washington, D.C. These are consolidator fares offered through companies that purchase in bulk. Available through Bestfares www.bestfares.com. Fort Lauderdale-based Future Vacations (1-800-921-4222;www.futurevacations.com, with American Airlines, has put together Caribbean travel packages at 35 percent off regular summer rates. Example: Four nights' hotel in St. Croix plus air from Miami costs $519 per person. Also, Las Vegas packages, including air and hotel, are priced at less than $100 per person per day for fall travel.

In the aftermath of last spring's scares about mad cow disease and foot-and-mouth disease, travel to Britain is especially well-priced. British Airways is offering discounts up to 20 percent on flights booked through Expedia www.expedia.com. Future Vacations is introducing packages with Virgin Atlantic that include theater tickets. Bid4vacations (1-877-778-7778; www.bid4vacations.com is promoting a six-night land-only package to London, including hotel, taxes, daily continental breakfast and a half-day tour, for $399 per person.

Quantas Airlines, which serves Australia and New Zealand, is offering 75 percent off companion business fares booked through a travel agent that is a member of the Virtuoso network, like Lorraine Travel, 1-305-446-4433.

The tony Four Seasons on the Caribbean island of Nevis (1-800-332-3442; www.fourseasons.com/nevis offers unlimited golf and tennis, free meals for children under 12, plus a $600 credit toward airfare for guests reserving a minimum stay of five days through Oct. 27.

Orlando bargains abound. One example: Caribbean Villas (1-800-327-4730; www.flvacationvillas.com, 11 miles from Disney World, offers a two-bedroom condo for $69 per night, from Aug. 17 to mid-November. Hawthorn Suites (1-407-351-6600; hotels.hawthorn.com/orlandoatseaworld.fl, located near International Drive, offers a Florida-resident special for a one-bedroom suite for $79 through Dec. 20.
