He says his favorite food is hot dogs, and Harry Truman is his hero.

Less than 48 hours before taking office, New York's new mayor Michael Bloomberg revealed a few personal tidbits in an interview on CBS News Sunday morning.

"I like a good hot dog, there's no question about that," he said in the live interview. "I'm a hot dog, hamburger, meatloaf, fried chicken kind of guy."

Bloomberg said his favorite music is rock 'n' roll from the 1960s. Growing up, he said, he was an Elvis fan and liked the song "Heartbreak Hotel."

When asked what his favorite book was, Bloomberg said he was currently reading "The Power Broker," by Robert Caro, and a book on President Truman, who he said is his hero.

The 59-year-old said his perfect Sunday afternoon would be spent golfing or watching one of his daughters at a horse show.

Unlike outgoing Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, a devoted Yankees fan, Bloomberg wouldn't commit to a favorite New York sports team, saying instead that he would root for all New York teams.

He said he was more fond of basketball than baseball, and that he was a former Boston Celtics fan who now cheers for the New York Knicks.

The billionaire media mogul, who grew up in the suburbs of Boston, takes office just after midnight on Jan. 1 after being sworn in by Giuliani in Times Square.
