SHARE Brighton gets win over No. 2 Alta

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Jara Ludlow scored a game-hgih 18 points and and Janell Casey added 14 more as Brighton slipped past No. 2 Alta, 46-42, in Class 5A girls prep basketball action Thursday night.

Trailing after the third, the Bengals (6-4) outscored Alta 16-8 in the final quarter to move to 3-0 in Region 2.

With the loss, the Hawks fall to 2-1 in league play and 8-2 overall.

In other girls action Thursday:


BINGHAM 53, COPPER HILLS 38: Angie McIver and Brianne Hymas combined for 21 points to lead the Miners.

WEST JORDAN 40, HILLCREST 36: The Jags held off the Huskies by four.

RIVERTON 52, JORDAN 45:Becky Wolf scored 18 points to lead Riverton to the Region 2 win. Rochelle Hoover led Jordan with 16.


MOUNTAIN CREST 59, BONNEVILLE 49:Katie Thatcher scored 25 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and had three blocks for Mountain Crest. Evelyn Whitehead had a nice game with 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks. Natalie Pugmire had 14 for Bonneville.

SKY VIEW 51, ROY 38: The Royals held Sky View's Julie Wood to just four points, but Emily Grunig had 15, and Janette Pehrson and Bridget Christensen had 10 each.

LOGAN 70, BOX ELDER 66: Molly Hillyard poured in 25 points and Cali Cottle and Tricia Skidmore had 14 each for the Grizzlies. Brittney Crocker had 14 for Box Elder.


LEHI 46, EMERY 41:Keisha Worthen scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Lehi. Christie Asay scored 10 points with eight coming in the fourth quarter. Sh also had a big 3-pointer in that quarter.

CARBON 63, DELTA 34:Cassie Warburton scored 16 points and had an equal number of rebounds for the Dinos.


CANYON VIEW 29, CEDAR 26: Bresha Smith scored 12 points as Canyon View won in a defensive battle. Cheryl Banks led Cedar with eight points.

SNOW CANYON 55, PINE VIEW 34: The Warriors improved to 12-1 and 1-0 in league play with the win over defending 3A champion Pine View.

DIXIE 58, HURRICANE 39: The Flyers started off Region 9 play with a big victory over Hurricane. Camille Gardner had 20 points and Heidi Carlsen added 15.


MANTI 34, NORTH SEVIER 31:Sarah Dettinger and Rose Fife combined to score 20 points for the Templars.


KANAB 50, PAROWAN 39: Kanab held Parowan scoreless in the first quarter en route to the 11-point victory. Amanda Cooper led Kanab with 16 points and Samantha Hamblin and Sara Cooper had 12 each.


ROWLAND HALL 52, JUAN DIEGO 38: Megan Andrews netted 17 points and Rose Maizner and Emily Everest added 11 each for Rowland Hall.

SOUTH SUMMIT 57, NORTH SUMMIT 42: Leah Tapp poured in 24 points to lead South Summit. Whitney Peck scored 16 for North Summit.


MILFORD 70, BRYCE VALLEY 41: Lynette Barnes scored 24 points and Macey Willden added 17 more for the Tigers. Jenne Comp led Bryce Valley with 13.

PANGUITCH 49, VALLEY 39: The Bobcats bounced back from a tough loss to Beaver Wednesday night to beat Valley. Shelly Hatch led Panguitch with 20.


ALTAMONT 67, UINTAH RIVER 38:Marley Mower scored 14 points with the help of four 3-pointers for Altamont. Altamont's Chelsie Gilbert led all scorers with 27.

RICH 69, TABIONA 23: Sammi Stuart scored a game-high 29 for the Rebels, who improved to 10-0.


LAYTON CHRISTIAN 65, CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 15:Shantee Releford scored 24 points and Jessica Fridberg added 18 in the game that was called with just over seven minutes left in the game due to a Christian Heritage injury.

INTERMOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN 38, MOUNT VERNON 25:Jessica Newhouse led ICS with 19 points, while Camille Nelson led Mount Vernon with nine.

SALT LAKE LUTHERAN 37, WATERFORD 24: Waterford led at the break, but could manange only five points in the second half. Stacy Knudsvig led Lutheran to the win with 19 points.


WEST DESERT 52, EAST CARBON 28:Meri Murphy scored 18 points and Kaydee Allred added 13 in the region victory. Chelsey Timothy had 11 for East Carbon.

DUGWAY 52, TINTIC 44:Kerri Phillips scored 16 points and teammates Amber Kolb abd Natasha Pagan added 12 each in the region win. Tintic's Emily Carter led all scorers with 17.

WENDOVER 44, MERIDIAN 36:Char Hooper and Amber Richardson scored 13 apiece as Wendover blew the game open in the fourth.


MOUNTAIN VIEW 73, AMERICAN FORK 24:Heather Hansen led a cadre of Mountain View scorers with 16 points in a drubbing of American Fork.

OREM 54, SPANISH FORK 39: Orem took a 12-point lead early in the game and gave up just 15 points in the first half.
