Lula "Lu" Karren Skanchy Feltch, a widely known former business women, passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City, UT. on Jan. 7, 2002, at the age of 92.

Lu was born on Sept. 20, 1909 to David and Elizabeth Karren in Vernal, UT. The Karren family consisted of three girls and four boys. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT then Utah State University in Logan, UT, earning her teacher's certificate. It was at Utah State where she met her first husband, Tony Skanchy. They married on April 24, 1929. Together, Tony and Lu raised a large family and worked side-by-side in several business ventures in Logan. Tony passed away Sept. 2, 1962. After Tony's death, Lu continued to successfully run the family business including Shanchy's Market. She was known as an outstanding business women, an attentive mother and an expert gardener.

In 1972, Lu sold her business and moved back to Vernal, UT to be near her siblings and to live in the ranching and farming country that she always loved. As she did in Logan, Lu maintained beautiful flower gardens, notably her magnificent roses and Irises. She traveled widely, visiting her far-flung children around the world. She married her childhood sweetheart Clark Feltch of Vernal on July 21, 1984. Lu and Clark relished traveling and wintering in Arizona and California. Clark passed away in Jan. 14, 1992. Lu moved to Salt Lake City in the winter of 1998 to be closer to her children when she found it difficult to live by herself.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husbands (Tony and Clark), two sons (Kenneth and Rex), and one granddaughter (Ingrid). Lu is survived by her sons; Lewis (Lucille), Salt Lake City, UT, Paul (Gloria), Rohnert Park, CA, Craig (Karen), Springfield, VA, Bruce (Karen), Park City, UT, daughter; LuJean (Ed), Jacksonville, OR, daughter-in-law; Katherine, Charleston, SC; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 So. 2300 East, where friends may call from 9:30-10 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Vernal Memorial Park at approximately 2:30 p.m. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
