BOUNTIFUL<! > -Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister Anna Elaine Nelson Burton, returned to her husband and to her Heavenly Father on January 10, 2002, passing away in her daughter's home in Woods Cross, Utah.

She was born May 5, 1924, in Bountiful, Utah, and all her life she exhibited a deep love for her family and passion for her music. After studying with Samuel Ball and at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland, Mom gave up a promising concert pianist career and married her high school sweetheart, Hubert C. Burton, at the Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, Maryland on June 6, 1946 upon his graduation. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. After several years of naval service and then medical education, they settled again in Bountiful. Together they joyfully and devotedly raised four sons and two daughters - and later 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

For more than 30 years, Elaine taught piano lessons. She taught her students and her family a love not only of music, but of all things beautiful. She shared with all of us the joy of her spirit, her tenderness, and most of all, her divinely unconditional love, a gift her family will treasure always.

Elaine was faithful in her church service, having served in Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women presidencies at the ward and stake level. She spent many years as a hostess at the Beehive House. She especially loved to visit and play the piano for the elderly and homebound. But Mom's greatest mission, devotion, and joy was her children and grandchildren.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hubert C. Burton, and is survived and will be deeply missed by her six children: Dr. Nelson A. Burton (Amy), Oakton, VA; Kathleen Clarke, Falls Church, VA (until recently Kaysville, UT); B. Kent Burton (Winnie), Arlington, VA; Rosanne Bowman (Maurice), Woods Cross, UT; Dr. Bradford S. Burton (Midori), Kaaawa, HI; and H. Dickson Burton (Maria), Bountiful, UT; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother, Byron Nelson (Kaye), Bountiful, UT; and sisters, Kay Burnham, Tucson, AZ; Margaret Sorenson, Ojai, CA; Geraldine Tracy, Denver, CO; as well as countless neighbors and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful, Utah Central Stake Center, 640 S. 750 E., Bountiful, UT. The family will receive visitors that morning at the Stake Center beginning at 9:30 a.m., and on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 S. Main, Bountiful, UT. Interment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Estates in Bountiful, UT. Online guest book and direction map at www.russonmortuary.com.
