Democrat "leaders" Tom Daschle and Richard Gephardt have decided to emulate the successful takeover of the 1930 Democrats.
Hoover was elected president in 1928 and took power on March 17, 1929. Some 7 1/2 months later, the stock market crashed. The Democrats took control of both houses of Congress in March 1931. Hoover was not in office long enough to have had anything to do with the resultant "Great Depression." The Democrats and FDR ran against Mr. Hoover for the next 20 years.
The Democrats sat on their hands from 1931 to 1933 when FDR took office, letting the country slide into the depression. Tom and Dick hope to do to President Bush what the Democrats did to President Hoover.
The Democrats try to take credit for getting us out of the depression, but sensible people know that World War II pulled us out.
A tax cut across the board is the only sensible thing to do. It will give the people more of their own money to spend and/or invest, both of which create jobs.
