PELHAM, N.Y. — To help ease the heartache felt by families in her community after the attacks on the World Trade Center Sept. 11, Mary Anne Ciccotelli gave handmade quilts to 10 families who had lost loved ones.

Enlisting the help of Relief Society sisters in her Mount Vernon Branch, Westchester New York Stake, as well as her daughter's Relief Society in Ames, Iowa, and members of quilting guilds she participates with on the Internet, as many as 130 people from 22 states and two foreign countries contributed blocks to the quilts.

Each quilt carried a personalized label, noting that the quilt had been made in honor of the loved one. Each family was also given a booklet with the names of all 130 people who contributed to the quilt project.
