On the way to

Rainbow Bridge <! >

There is a legend that just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When a pet dies, who has been especially close to a person here on earth, he goes to Rainbow Bridge where he is restored to youth and is happy and content to wait for his person to arrive. Together the person and the pet cross the Rainbow Bridge into Heaven.

On January 1, 2002, a very special soul arrived at Rainbow Bridge. We lost our friend and mentor, Mickie Britton. Mickie was the founder of Companion Golden Retriever Rescue, a non-profit group dedicated to finding homes for golden retrievers in need. This organization has placed thousands of dogs since it began in 1988.

Mickie was born March 20, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama. She is survived by her husband, William N. Britton of West Jordan; sons, John of West Jordan, and Marshall of Las Vegas, and their wives and children.

Special private services were held in her honor on January 5, 2002. Her family, her close friends and many dogs were present.

Mickie will still be with us in spirit with the continuation of the work she felt so strongly about. A special fund has been established in Mickie's name to help pay for the medical needs of the homeless golden retrievers that she dedicated so much of her life to helping. Donations may be sent to "Mickie's Fund" Companion Golden Retriever Rescue, P.O. Box 404, Paradise, UT 84328.
