Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, made their first public appearance since her miscarriage a month ago, visiting a nursery school in eastern England.
The couple spent nearly an hour Friday chatting with staff and pupils at the Phoenix Montessori Nursery School at Terrington St. Clement in Norfolk.
"I thought she did extremely well. It must have been extremely difficult for her," said Caroline King, a parent-helper at the school.
Sophie, whose title is countess of Wessex, was hospitalized on Dec. 6 for emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. There had been no announcement that the couple had been expecting a child.
Edward is the third and youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II.
