Rosemary Clooney has undergone successful lung cancer surgery at the Mayo Clinic, her agent said.

The 73-year-old singer had the upper lobe of her left lung removed on Friday. She was diagnosed with lung cancer the previous day during a regular physical exam.

Clooney's agent, Allen Sviridoff, said Sunday that she was talking and laughing with her family the day after the surgery. She's expected to be hospitalized about 10 more days.

Clooney is scheduled to appear at the Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Feb. 27, where she's nominated to win her first Grammy and is scheduled to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
