An office worker at the State Adult Probation and Parole is accused of selling information to gang members who planned to commit a home-invasion robbery.

Maria Beauchamp was charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary or, in the alternative, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

Beauchamp provided classified information to a known gang member sometime between Sept. 13 and Oct. 18, knowing the information was to be used to facilitate a home-invasion robbery, according to court documents.

The robberies never occurred, and those who were targeted are no longer at risk, he said.

When asked how the sheriff's office found out that Beauchamp was allegedly selling information, Sgt. Paul Brenneman head of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Gang Unit said, "We have sources that come to us from time to time."

There was no indication that any other agency employee was involved, Brenneman said.
