George Washburn Norton of Woodinville, Washington died Jan. 11, 2002 at his home. He was 68.

Mr. Norton was born on March 4, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his early childhood his family spent several years living in the Philippines where his father managed various mining operations. Returning to Utah in his youth, Mr. Norton attended school in Park City and graduated from East High School and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Mr. Norton was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1953 to 1955. In 1963, George married Carolyn Ann Miller. Shortly after the birth of their sons, Mark and Burke, they moved to California, where their daughter, Kristin was born. In 1978, Mr. Norton moved his family to Woodinville. He spent 31 years working for the Ford Motor Company in sales and marketing management. Mr. Norton was an avid reader, with a special interest in World War II history, and he enjoyed world travel. He also spent many summers vacationing in his mountain property in Baker's Peak, Colorado and with his sister's family at Lake Tahoe. Mr. Norton died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He will be dearly missed.

Mr. Norton is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carolyn, his sister, Jacqueline Freckles of Novato. CA, his three children, Mark, Burke, and Kristin and their families, including three grandchildren - David and Kathryn Norton and Matthew Welter, and his aunt, Anne Hamilton of Everett, WA.
