DALLAS (AP) — Prosecutors are working to dismiss dozens more cases in which fake drugs or tiny amounts of the real thing mixed with drywall were used as evidence against defendants.

Prosecutors had earlier cited as many as 24 drug cases as having problems with evidence, but now District Attorney Bill Hill said his office is working to dismiss 59 such cases.

Several of the defendants have been deported, and at least three are imprisoned, Hill said.

Some lawyers have already filed court papers seeking new trials for clients who accepted plea offers.
