SALINA, UTAH - <! > Ashton Kirk Martin, age 78, died January 13, 2002 at his home in Salina.
He was born March 10, 1923 in Salina, a son of Jarvis Fenn and Rula Vilate Ivie Martin. He grad-uated from Ne-vada City High School, Class of 1941 in Nevada City, California.
Kirk served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in Okinawa as a Combat Medic. He married Thelda Dean Craw, June 14, 1946 in the St. George LDS Temple.
He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in the Bishopric in Sparks, NV; served on the High Council and as High Priest Group Leader for many years. He and his wife, Thelda served nine years working in the Manti Temple. Kirk's life passions were hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; children: Charles and Sarah Martin of East Carbon, Utah; Linda and Tim Tolman of Fallon, NV; Robert and Wendy Martin of South Carolina; 12 grand- children; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister: Sharon Martin of Salina; Steve Martin of Canby, Oregon; Raelynn and LaVern Graham of Sacramento, CA; Andrew Douglas and Chris Anderson of Sandpoint, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister: Howard Chad Martin and Marlyn (Cookie) Anderson.
Funeral services will be Thurs., Jan. 17, 2002 at 12 noon in the Salina 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main St. in Salina, Wed. evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thurs. morning from 10:30-11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home.
