Velma Howarth Snow, age 84, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, in Heber City, Utah.

Born March 31, 1917 the daughter of Wilford Woodruff and Ellen Maria Giles Howarth. She grew up in Heber Valley, and also received her schooling there. Married James Irvin Snow Jan. 16, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death Dec. 2, 1969. Velma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various capacities through the years including primary teacher and secretary of the Primary Presidency, secretary in Mutual, Relief Society teacher and being a visiting teacher. One of her specialties was teaching lessons of the Daughters of the Pioneers. Velma lived her married life in Provo where she helped her husband on their dairy farm. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by her many friends as well as her family.

Survivors include her son, Giles I. (Sharon) Snow of Heber City; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Zella Mair of Heber City. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James I. Snow, both parents, and two brothers, Ray and Giles.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002 - 11 a.m. in the Heber 4th LDS Chapel, 150 West 200 North, Heber City. Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, and on Saturday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery approximately 1:30 p.m.
