CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Democratic legislative leaders aren't ready to toughen West Virginia's drunken-driving laws, despite the potential loss of federal highway dollars.

Gov. Bob Wise wants the limit changed from 0.10 to 0.08 to comply with a congressional mandate. Republicans support it, but Democrats say the measure would result in more people being put in West Virginia's already overcrowded jails. West Virginia is among a handful of states that haven't adopted the standard.
