Discovery differences resolved in Gibbons’ case

Attorneys for Dale Moroni Gibbons and representatives from the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office met for about two hours Tuesday to work out differences regarding "discovery" matters.

Discovery is the process in which one side in a legal action may be informed about facts known by other parties or witnesses.

"We resolved nearly all those discovery disputes. Each side gave a little bit, and I think we worked out all of the outstanding discovery issues we had," said prosecutor Sirena Wissler. "We need to make some disclosures to them. It's a matter of getting some documents to them."

Wissler said the two sides have not discussed a plea bargain in the case.

Gibbons, the former Zions Bancorp. chief financial officer, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, dealing in harmful material to a minor and child endangerment, all third-degree felonies.

The next court date in the case is a motion hearing before 3rd District Judge Robin Reese on Feb. 27.
