Estrid E. Stokes, 85, long time Salt Lake City resident, died December 18, 2001 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
She was born September 18, 1916 in Orebro, Sweden to Folkmar and Esther Larsson Andersson.
She married Frank Stokes Jan. 21, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1990. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 27, 1978.
She was the editor for Orebro Kuriren newspaper in Sweden before moving to the United States in 1948. She lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1959. She was an executive for Eimco Corp. in Salt Lake City, retiring in 1978, and moved to Ottumwa in 1998.
She was a member of the Rosedale Ward in Salt Lake City, Utah, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had been a volunteer for the LDS Family History Department.
Surviving is a son Leif (Jenny) Stokes of Ottumwa; two grandsons; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother James Folkmarsson and a sister Dagmar Andersson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 at 12 noon at the Rosedale Ward, 1100 West 500 North.
