A man was recovering Wednesday morning from a stab wound to his back after police say another man attacked him for outside a 7-Eleven store at 1690 S. 900 West.
The victim, in his late 30s, was listed in fair condition at LDS Hospital.
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Monday. As the victim was backing out of the parking lot at the store, another man got out of his car and yelled at the victim for getting too close to his car, police said. The man pounded on the hood of the victim's car, damaging the vehicle, according to police.
When the victim got out of his car and confronted the man, he was stabbed, police said. A friend who was with the alleged attacker grabbed the victim from behind and was accidentally stabbed in the shoulder by his friend, police said.
The friend, 18, was treated and released from LDS Hospital. Monday night, then booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. He remained in the jail Wednesday morning for investigation of aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon.
The alleged attacker, 21, remained in jail Wednesday morning for investigation of aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, failure to comply and destruction of property.
