BOZEMAN, Mont. — Casey Reynolds and Jason Erickson each scored 17 points Saturday as Montana State rallied to win its ninth straight game 79-68 over Weber State.
MSU (12-6, 5-0 Big Sky) swept the series with the league's preseason favorite Weber State (12-7, 3-3).
The Bobcats trailed 63-57 with seven minutes left, MSU went on a 14-0 run, including four 3-pointers, to take a 71-63 lead on Erickson's layup with 3:53 left.
Weber State pulled within 71-66 on a jumper by Chris Woods, but the Bobcats answered with a 6-0 run, capped by James Clark's breakaway layup, to take a 77-66 lead with 29.6 seconds left.
The Wildcats led by as much as 37-30 on Marc Thurig's short hook with 2:35 left in the first half.
A free throw by Aaron Rich and a layup by Erickson at the 1:37 mark cut Weber's lead to 37-33.
Jermaine Boyette's layup with 1:12 left put Weber State back up 39-33, but Erickson's long 3-pointer with six seconds remaining narrowed the halftime margin to 39-36.
Woods led Weber State with 20 points, followed by Boyette with 11 and John Hamilton with 10.
Also in double figures for Montana State were Rich with 12 points and Damir Latovic with 11.
Weber State returns to action next weekend at the Dee Events Center. The Wildcats host Eastern Washington Friday and Portland State Saturday.
