John Norman Everett, age 85, died January 18, 2002 from congestive heart failure.

He was born July 31, 1916 in Ogden, UT to John Edward and Erma Goddard Everett. On Feb 20, 1942 he married Jeanne Adele Riches in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Norm served a two-year mission to Australia from 1937-1939. He served in the Army during World War II. From October 1941 to July 1942 he was stationed at Fort Douglas then went to officer candidate school in New Jersey, graduating from there in Oct 1942. He was stationed in Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, and Missouri with the signal corps before going to the China-Burma-India theatre. He returned home Jan, 1946 and remained active in the reserves until his retirement in 1976. He worked at Heber J. Grant Insurance Co. for thirty years, then with American National General Agency until retiring in 1981.

Norm served in the bishopric of the 13th Ward, University Stake. He served in several capacities in that ward as well as others he lived in, most while living at the same address.

Norm is survived by his wife, Jeanne; sons, Steven, John (Vicky), Richard (Susan), Joseph (Kari); 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchil-dren; brothers, Albert (Merrilyn), Fresno, CA, Frank (Kathryn), Salt Lake; sister, Joanne (Mac) Gardner, Eureka, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lucille Liddle.

Services will be Wed. Jan 23, 2002, 12 noon, Monument Park 8th Ward chapel, 1794 Texas St. (2430 E). Family and friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m., Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr, and Wed. 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank all the staff and caregivers at Highland Care center for the tender care and devotion to Norm. In lieu of flowers, we request a donation be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center or to a charity of your choice.
