PLAYER OF WEEK: Sophomore guard Nick Jacobson is the Mountain West Conference men's basketball player of the week after leading the Utes to 2-0 record last week. This is Jacobson's first player of the week honor of his career.

Jacobson, from Fargo, N.D., averaged 22 points and 2.5 rebounds last week. The Ute guard shot 65 percent from the field (15 of 23) and 69 percent from 3-point range (11 of 16). He was one point shy of his career high, scoring 25 and tying a school record with seven treys in a 76-70 win over San Diego State on Monday. He leads the MWC in scoring with 23.3 points per game

INDOOR TRACK: Brooke LoBue set a new school record in the pole vault at the Snake River Open last week. LoBue placed second (13 feet 5 1/2 inches) and automatically qualified for nationals . Other top finishers for Utah included April Jackson placing second (5-07.00) in the 55-meter hurdle finals and third (5-07.00) in the high jump. Alexandria Nash took third (36-01.25) in the triple jump.

TENNIS: The women's tennis team battled Air Force to the final match before losing to the Falcons 4-3 Monday at the Sports Academy in Logan. The Aggies (1-2) won three out of six singles matches but lost all three doubles matches.
