Christopher Giles Swindells, 30,
returned to his Father in Heaven, Jan. 16, 2002 after a tragic car accident.
Born, July 17, 1971, at Chicksands Air Force Base, England, while his father was stationed there, Chris grew up all over the world,
including Texas, Louisiana, Germany, Alaska, and Washington State. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1989, then attended Big Bear College in Washington State, and joined the Army in 1996. Stationed at Fort Drum, New York for most of his six year military career. His last assignment was Dexheim Germany. He wanted to make a difference in the world... and he grew up defending our family as "He-man" or "G.I. Joe" and left this world defending our Nation from its enemies as a United States Soldier.
Having accomplished everything he was sent down on this earth to do, he is now a warrior for his Father in Heaven. Chris was a joy to his family and never hesitated to show his love and compassion for others. Humorous stories about Chris will continue to bring our family joy and laughter.
He is survived by his fiancee, Cecilia Sommers and two daughters, Lisa and Natasha; his mother, Mary (Swindells) Ortega; his father, Giles (Nick) Swindells and step-mother, Sue Swindells; sisters, Jennifer, Christine, Katie, Valerie, Stacy; and brother Dominick. Also, surviving is his grandmother, LaRue Casey, and many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Casey and grandparents, Harold and Dorothy Swindells, and uncle Dennis Casey. We take great comfort in their happy reunion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
