Archie Allen Searle, age 84, died peacefully in his sleep of causes incident to age at his home in Bountiful, Utah on Tuesday, January 22, 2002.
Dad was born November 12, 1917 in Delta, Utah to Charles Delbert Searle and Ruth Chilson Maxfield Searle. He married Wilma Damron on July 27, 1937. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 1, 1940.
Dad was employed for the Union Pacific Railroad. He started his career in Lynndyl, UT as an locomotive engineer at the age of 23. In 1959 he moved his family to Bountiful and continued working until his retirement in 1981. Dad loved the railroad and was a dedicated railroader for 40 years. Dad was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many different callings. Dad and mom served a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois from 1984 - 1985 as guides in the Jonathan Browning home.
Archie is survived by his wife Wilma; sons, Kenneth Archie (Thora), Salt Lake City; Stephen R. (Linda), Bountiful; daughters, Colone Layton (Stan), Bountiful; Connie Royall (Dan), Centerville; and Chanel Rehn (Jeff), Spokane, WA; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; also sister Nedra Robison and brother, Tex Searle. Preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Mueller Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 1825 S. 800 E., Bountiful. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
Interment - Lakeview Cemetery.
