Without discussion, the Senate unanimously passed SB35, which will determine the voting district of any voter who lives on a county line.

A person who lives on a county line will vote in the county in which the majority of the home stands, based on square footage. Currently, there are no guidelines for determining a person's voting district if they have a home on a county line.

The bill is one of four bills needed to resolve problems created by subdivisions that are within a city but cross county boundaries. SunCrest, a housing project within Draper, already has planned 94 homes which that will be built on the Salt Lake-Utah county line. Other housing projects that may cross county lines are expected in Wasatch, Juab, and Morgan counties.
