The porn czar in Attorney General Mark Shurtleff's office will get some help if senators go along with a bill passed by the House on Wednesday.
HB107 by Rep. Wayne Harper, R-West Jordan, will require state obscenity and pornography complaints ombudsman Paula Houston and her staff to draft "model" child pornography ordinances that can be used by Utah cities and counties and to coordinate any pornography investigations by the AG with local law enforcement.
"There have been times when the attorney general and a local law enforcement agency were both investigating the same incidents" and they didn't now the other agency was at work, said Harper.
Houston, with the larger resources of the attorney general, can keep up with current court rulings and law enforcement techniques.
