The Tooele Valley has experienced rapid growth in the past decade. Between 1990 and 2000, Tooele County had the third highest growth rate in the state (53 percent), third only to Summit and Washington counties.

Envision Utah is asking residents of this area to help determine how this region will look in the coming years by participating in two workshops that will take place starting Thursday.

The workshops will be:

Thursday, Jan. 24 — Grantsville City Hall, 6-9 p.m., 429 E. Main, Grantsville.

Thursday, Jan. 31 — Northlake Elementary School, 6-9 p.m., 268 N. Coleman, Tooele.

The growth of the Tooele Valley population is inevitable, but how and where that growth occurs is still within the power of the citizens of the valley. The Tooele Valley Regional Plan will help residents understand the implications of the current trend, and outline alternatives to the current growth pattern.

Through a totally interactive process, these workshops are an opportunity to give input on critical issues facing the Tooele Valley. Each workshop will focus on a slightly different region of the valley. Residents and interested parties may attend both workshops.

Envision Utah says residents' vision of the Tooele Valley is the best planning tool they have. For more information or to RSVP to a meeting call Matthew Whinery at Envision Utah, 973-3097, or send an e-mail to mwhinery@kutv2.com.
