Mountain venue buses selling out

SHARE Mountain venue buses selling out

Seats are selling out fast on the Mountain Venue Express - the bus system SLOC hopes will reduce road congestion to and from Olympic events.

More than half of the 800 Mountain Venue buses are fully booked.

SLOC President Mitt Romney said Friday he is holding back 10 percent of seats on each bus for sale to international visitors who may have no other way of getting around. Romney said he hopes to find more buses to help satisfy demand, but isn't sure he'll find any. In the meantime he encourages local ticket holders to carpool.

"We anticipate that people here in Utah will be able to have alternative ways of getting there," Romney said. "We'll look for more buses, but we're going to reserve those 10 percent for people coming a long way."

Now there are some seats still available on various routes. To check on availability or make a reservation, call 866-566-4428.

As of Friday, all seats were booked on buses from downtown Salt Lake City to mountain venues on the mornings of Feb. 10, 11, 12, 13, and 16.

Also booked up - afternoon buses from Salt Lake City to Utah Olympic Park on Feb. 10, 12, 13, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23.

In addition - no seats left on the bus from Salt Lake City to Snowbasin Feb. 14.
