How to get the best deals? Keep your eyes open, sign up for e-mail advisories, call a travel agent. Shop around, and if you can, wait a little while to see if a sale materializes.

A few more tips:

Luxury hotels still aren't cheap, but they may be less expensive than usual or may include an extra night's stay with five nights or more. Those in hard-hit areas such as Bali may be downright affordable.

The best hotel deals are usually at large properties with lots of rooms to fill.

Many of the best international deals include air from New York.

It's always worth checking with your travel agent, who can book most of the fares noted below as well as many others.

Below, you'll find a sampling of deals currently offered. All prices are the lowest offering under the promotion quoted; all are subject to availability, and some blackout periods may apply. Information is provided by the suppliers and is subject to change.
