Focus on women

Highlighting work by more than 100 of America's best photographers — including Dorothea Lange, Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz, Mary Ellen Mark and others — "Game Face: What Does the Female Athlete Look Like?" is a visual celebration of women. The University of Utah exhibit, with its companion book, illustrates why sports is a metaphor for freedom, accomplishment and independence. Legendary athletes and ordinary girls are presented using their bodies unselfconsciously in joyful and empowering ways. "Game Face" will be at the U.'s Olpin Center from Jan. 29-March 29 to coincide with the 2002 Winter Games, the Paralympics and Women's History Month.
