OREM — Orem police say they have picked up a couple of modern-day Frito Banditos after two 15-year-olds were caught breaking into a Frito Lay truck Monday morning.

According to Orem police, officer Yolanda Stewart was making routine business checks near 1300 West and 400 South when she happened upon the two boys breaking into a snack truck. The boys fled on foot, dropping bags of chips in their hasty getaway.

In their moment of panic, the two left the car they arrived in parked and still running.

Stewart located the car's owner, who at first denied lending the car to the two boys. Later, the woman told police she didn't want the boys to get into trouble.

After locating the two juveniles, the boys reportedly told police that they had broken into Frito Lay trucks about seven different times over a year's time.

The two minors were booked into the Utah County juvenile holding facility and face burglary and theft charges.

The car's owner was cited for obstruction of justice.
