A group of Utah agencies will present a new public television series, "Workplace Essential Skills," starting Friday.

The series, which includes 24 half-hour episodes, is designed to show how adults use basic skills to find jobs and how they use those skills in realistic workplace settings. It focuses on the needs of those who are unemployed, underemployed or new to the world of work.

The first broadcast of the series will start Friday and run through March. Double episodes will show for the first time each Friday at 6 p.m. and repeat on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 a.m. For a complete schedule and list of local channels that are broadcasting the series, go to jobs.utah.govon the Internet or call 1-801-526-9905.

With money from a federal grant, the partnership of state agencies purchased broadcast rights to the series for five years. The partnership includes the Utah State Office of Education's Adult Education program, Utah Education Network, Utah State Office of Rehabilitation and Department of Workforce Services.
