WASHINGTON (AP) — Britax Child Safety Inc. is recalling almost 5,000 convertible car seats that do not meet government safety standards.
The recall involves the Advantage Model E9022, made last year from March 5 to July 26.
Tether brackets installed during that time may allow the tether attachments to separate from the seat shell in a crash.
Owners can find the date of manufacture on the label on the side of the seat. Britax will mail free repair kits to owners who registered the seats. Others can telephone 1-888-427-4829.
Dr. Jeff Runge, administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said owners should continue to use the seat but make prompt repairs once the kit is received from Britax.
