ST. GEORGE — Police say the man whose body was discovered at a local golf course Thursday morning is the victim of a homicide.
St. George Police Chief Marlon Stratton said detectives were called to the Southgate Golf Course, one of the city's many public golf courses, at 7 a.m.
Stratton would not release any details about the victim, who found him or how he was killed.
"That information is critical to our case. This is very preliminary. We're still gathering evidence and just starting an investigation," Stratton said.
This is the second homicide Stratton has had to investigate since his appointment as chief of police a year ago. John Anderson, a local barber, was found dead Oct. 9. Claudio Mauricio Martinez was arrested in that case on a charge of aggravated murder, a capital offense; and aggravated robbery, a first degree felony. A preliminary hearing for Martinez has yet to be scheduled in 5th District Court.
